TAPED UP

Hey guys! I know that this is a strange time to make my first post, but better late than never! I wanted to make this just to talk about some events that have happened this year, and what's up to come! Since club meetings were all virtual last year, it was a bit difficult to jump up from that, but thankfully I think that we're doing pretty well. We were able to do our favorite annual events such as the Homecoming Hallway Parade and the Veteran's Day Breakfast. The Homecoming Wagon Parade was interesting, to say the least. We were concerned that we wouldn't even be able to find a wagon, but thankfully, our service coordinator, Olivia Wurtz, was able to get us one! However, we weren't able to start working on it until the day of the parade. Since the theme this year was "Around the World", we took some cardboard, covered it in butcher paper, and glued some hand-drawn landmarks on it. The idea was extremely cute, and so was the execution...in a way. We realized about 5 minutes before the parade started that there was no smart way to attach the cardboard to the wagon, but we were limited in time, so we just quickly stuck some tape on. It worked! (more on that later). So with our cute wagon and the kid's rocket ship that our treasurer, Ethan Clark, brought, we were set to go! I thought that once we finished the wagon, it would be smooth sailing from there. Yeah, it was not. Turns out that to get from floor to floor, we had to carry our already, very fragile wagon down the stairs. Can you guess what happened? It fell apart. Luckily we had some clear tape, so we just wrapped the entire wagon with it and hoped for the best. However, with how hectic everything was, it didn't work very well. Because of this, I got the great responsibility of holding one of the fallen pieces of cardboard and waving it around! It's okay though because I'm pretty sure everyone was more focused on the officers riding the tiny rocket than our mess of a wagon. Even though this didn't go as smoothly as we wanted it to, I think that made it even better (yeah, I'm aware of how cheesy that sounds). Funny enough, our wagon also fell apart last year! I guess that we're just really bad at constructing wagons. I suppose that's just a tradition that we'll have to continue in the future.

Alright, just a few reminders before I go. 2022-2023 Officer Elections are coming up, so get prepared for that! Also, if you're reading this before it has been announced, we're gonna be having a gummy bear/chocolate fundraiser, so get ready to carry your box around with you! As always, more information is on our Instagram (@lrhs.keyclub), so make sure to check it out. I'm in charge of it, so I'm allowed to do a shameless self-promo :D.

Yours in Service,

Madison Nguyen
